Sometimes you just need a push in the right direction, and everything will be alright. Sometimes you have to be a children’s whisperer to get the best out of them. But the most important thing is to have them be as comfortable as possible… And having mum and brother around helps too!
I asked my friend Emma if she would like some new photos of her children for thanks in helping promote my photography lately. She jumped at the chance and we quickly organised to get together. Lucas, Samara and Koby were all dressed nicely, hair was done and they were ready…
Lucas was first to have his portrait taken. He was ready and enthusiastic. I asked him to pull a few faces to start off and after a few goes, his face had relaxed and was ready to go. Lucas has a great personality and it shows in the photos.
After only 5 minutes, I’d gotten some great photos and a really good one of him smiling.
Next was to get Samara up for some posing. But, like all great actors, they’re ready when THEY”RE ready. There were a few tears and consoling hugs from mum, but Samara only agreed to photos if her big brother was with her. She was a bit cautious and a little nervous, but loosened up after she saw Lucas, who was now a pro, get into it.
After taking a few “formal” shots…
It was time for a bit of mucking around. Lucas had already had experience in this so it was Samara’s turn to play a bit. As long as Lucas was doing it, Samara had the confidence to follow. She was getting more into it by the end of it.
After the photos were taken, Samara asked if she could have her photos done by herself! Full of confidence and comfortable around me, she gave me some great natural shots as well as a few where I asked her to scream!
She started to have some fun…
And I asked her to scream. It first started with a little squeak, then a loud squeak, to a medium roar to finally and glass shattering scream!
Unfortunately little Koby wasn’t up to having his photo taken which meant we missed the opportunity to take a photo of all three of them, but on another day when the stars align, he will be ready!
Thanks Emma, Lucas, Samara and Koby for having the time to come over. I hope you like the photos.
